Brazilian journalist Marcelo Bechler went live on TNT Sports today to talk about the future of Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
The reporter had some information regarding Paris Saint Germain’s plans to sign the 33-year-old, claiming the French side are now ‘convinced’ they have the right arguments for it.
According to Bechler, PSG believe their sports project and financial offer are both better than what Barcelona can put on the table to keep the Argentine star.
Moreover, there’s confidence from the French squad that they’ll have him in France next season.
The journalist says that after the game against Barçelona in the Champions League this week, a player raised his voice in the dressing room and said: “This is the last time he comes as an opponent”.
Regarding the rumours of the talks for a new contract with Barcelona, it’s claimed that Messi will only negotiate any deals in the summer.
His father is said to be in Argentina, contrary to reports, and the player is focused on the end of the season with the club.
Bechler was also asked about his personal opinion on this case.
He claims he sees Messi playing for PSG next season, even though this is not any factual information, but only his feeling.
Regarding Manchester City, it’s not clear why they’ve ‘gone quiet’ lately but the journalist mentions the possibility of the club not willing to have him at 34 years of age, instead of 33 last year, and perhaps that’s why they’ve taken a step back.
