Inter Milan have made Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri their number one target for the position this summer but don’t want to match the Blues’ demands.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who say the Italian side ‘control the movements’ around the Chelsea man.
They explain that Inter Milan are keen on Palmieri this summer as they look for a new left-back, and Emerson has given his ‘approval’ to the move despite interest from Napoli.
That is because they can ‘guarantee’ him the same wages he currently receives at Chelsea, which is around €3.5m a year, over a four-year deal.
That part of the potential move is easy, but the negotiations with the new European champions are not.
Negotiating with them is ‘not easy’, and a ‘good dose of diplomacy’ will be needed if they are to make a move happen.
That’s because Chelsea are demanding €20m for the Italian, which is seen as an ‘insurmountable amount’ by Inter, who do not want to spend, at least in terms of the fixed price, more than €10m.
Indeed, Inter Milan need to reduce costs at the club if they can and avoid adding anything more to the budget before June 30th.
Therefore it is ‘logical’ that the breakthrough for Emerson could come after the European Championship, with negotiations needed between both clubs to make a move happen.
