Everton defender Yerry Mina is a potential target for AC Milan as they look for an alternative to the injured Simon Kjaer.
That’s according to AS, who say the Italian side are ‘considering’ a move for the Colombian centre back in January.
They state that Milan need to sign a centre back in the winter window after Kjaer sprained a knee and was taken off on a stretcher at the weekend.
That’s led to concerns at Milan that one of their key men is set for a spell on the sidelines, and so they will enter the window in January to try and find cover.
One of the options they’ll look at is Mina, who is reportedly not a part of Everton’s plans moving forwards. In fact, they would be willing to let him leave on loan.
That is all they offer on the situation, so we’ll have to take it with a pinch of salt at this point, particularly the part about Everton being willing to sanction a loan.
That seems very unlikely given Mina is very much considered a key player, with his absence being felt by Rafa Benitez and co at this moment in time.
There is a growing frustration with his extensive injuries, though, with him having missed 257 days injured at Everton (not including 82 days from July 2018 to October 2018 when he first joined) or 29 games in total.
That’s a lot, particularly given the wages he is on, and perhaps the Blues have decided their money could be spent better elsewhere.
For a loan deal to make sense, it would have to include some sort of purchase clause, especially given Mina’s contract ends in June 2023.
Talk of a move to Milan is nothing new, though; indeed, Mina was said to have been ‘proposed’ back in October, so expect more of this as we get closer to January.
