Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti could be a target for Juventus this summer, should they decide to part ways with Andrea Pirlo.
That’s according to agent Ivan Reggiani, who says that talk of Ancelotti returning to the club has started to pick up.
Pirlo is currently under pressure at Juventus, having struggled to impress in his first season at the club, with them fifth in the table with one game left of the season.
They’re just a point behind AC Milan and Napoli in third and fourth, but the likelihood is that the Italian giants will miss out on the Champions League next season.
Zinedine Zidane has been touted as the main name to replace him should that happen, with the Real Madrid boss having reportedly told the club he will be leaving this summer.
However, according to Reggiani, it is actually Everton manager Ancelotti who is the name Juve are looking at.
“Zidane is probably the most quoted one now,” he told Calciomercato.it
“But in these days in London circles, the rumour is circulating strongly that in Turin there could be the great return of Carlo Ancelotti.
“There are great possibilities; the hypothesis is being examined by the Juventus club. Juve must be rebuilt, and Ancelotti could be the right name.”
That’s all Reggiani has to offer at this point, so we’ll take the talk with a pinch of salt at this stage.
The rumour is somewhat predictable, with Ancelotti’s name always likely to pop up in relation to his former clubs at a time of crisis.
It’s already happened with Real Madrid and Juventus, where he spent two years and won the Intertoto Cup, was always likely to follow suit.
Whether he’d actually return remains to be seen, although we’re sure Everton will put up a fierce fight to keep hold of him regardless.
