Tottenham Hotspur have been negotiating with Barcelona for Clément Lenglet’s transfer for over a month but still haven’t managed to get the deal over the line so far.
The defender spent last season on loan at Spurs and their efforts to bring him back to the club were out to one side due to Harry Kane’s situation getting all the attention, according to Sport.
Kane is set to leave for Bayern Munich and his impending sale would allow Tottenham have more funds to make further additions to their squad. Although Lenglet’s signing hasn’t been conditional on those finances.
The report states negotiations between Tottenham and the La Liga side were ‘frozen’ due to their failure to agree a fee.
Barcelona have requested €15m while Spurs want a cheap deal. The outlet suggests that impasse could be overcome quickly.
Sport state Barca are ‘confident’ that Tottenham sign Lenglet once they’ve moved on from dealing with the England international’s sale. Whether that will be the case remains to be seen.
