Valencia are currently left hanging over the futures of Shkodran Mustafi and Aymen Abdennour. Both are the subject of English interest, from Arsenal and Everton, but apparently actual offers haven’t arrived.

Despite Valencia owner Peter Lim travelling to England at the end of last week to try and get deals done, there’s been no huge strides forward. Reports in the Valencia, and English, media seem to have been largely based on assumption and right now it’s a little quiet.

Valencia’s Plaza Deportiva reports that there’s confidence a Abdennour to Everton move can get across the line, but they may well be through hope rather than anything more concrete.

The Spanish club are waiting for Everton’s offer to ‘materialise’ and only then can things really get motoring, with Valencia waiting with their own plans to sign players. An agent initially informed Valencia of Everton’s interest, and everything has then progressed from there.

This is just a suggestion, but maybe Everton should consider changing their target to Mustafi, who was far better last season, and was previously at the Merseyside club as a youth player.
