Star claim Besiktas are looking to get a deal done for Liverpool attacker Lazar Markovic before the transfer window closes.

The forgotten Serbian winger, who’s reportedly looking to depart Liverpool, has emerged as a target for Besiktas. The Turkish club are looking to sign a winger to replace Ryan Babel and Ricardo Quaresma after they left during the current window.

According to Star, Besiktas officials have progressed in talks with Liverpool and they are now close to signing the player permanently.

It’s reported that Besiktas are looking to sign Markovic on a free transfer and the Istanbul side are confident that they can convince Liverpool over such a deal.

Besiktas officials are looking to use their past ties with Liverpool to get the player after the clubs formed a good relationship last summer during the Loris Karius deal.

Markovic has yet to play for Liverpool this season and his future at Anfield looks to be over.
