Sport are backing up claims from Mundo Deportivo that Denis Suarez moving to Arsenal is not only back on the agenda, but a deal which is close to being done.

Mundo came with lunchtime claims stating there had been a compromise at Barcelona over the potential deal. They’d already agreed to loan the player to Arsenal without a purchase obligation but needed him to renew his deal first.

Initially wanting a three year extension, Barca have now accepted a one year extension will be enforced should Denis return from his loan at Arsenal.

Sport have slightly different figures than what has been mainly reported in Spain. They say the Gunners will be paying a fee of €2.5m for the loan, and that a summer purchase option could be valued at around €25-30m.

That option clause isn’t crucially important, it just guarantees the lowest price. Should Arsenal not want to pay that much in the summer then they can always try and negotiate it downwards.

Marca have it a little differently, they also say the loan fee is €2.5m, but they state there’s no figure for a summer option, and negotiations will take place at the time.

It’s believed the transfer will be announced in the next few hours.

AS go with a €2m fee and €20m purchase option.
