Sansursuz Futbol journalist Ahmet Ercanlar claims Fenerbahce are interested in signing Manchester United’s Juan Mata.

Ercanlar, who worked at Hurriyet and Asist Analiz as their Fenerbahce journalist, claims the Super Lig club’s president Ali Koc has held talks with Luis Gustavo’s agent with regards to signing Mata, and added both sides are close to reaching an agreement.

Fener are looking to replace Max Kruse, who terminated his contract with the Turkish club last month, and Ercanlar insists Mata is their first-choice target.

The Spanish attacking midfielder has been used as a squad player this season by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Ercanlar claims the player is keen to join Fenerbahce, which feels questionable to say the least.

It’s reported further talks between the two sides will commence in the next few weeks and that the Yellow Canaries are confident signing him.

This season the former Chelsea player has made 33 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions, scoring three goals. Mata’s contract at Old Trafford will expire at the end of June 2021.
