Seen as one of many talented youngsters coming through the youth system at Everton, there was hope Fraser Hornby would eventually make it to the first-team.
He made one appearance back in 2017, starting a 3-0 win in the Europa League against Apollon Limassol, but never managed to return after that.
Spending most of his time with Everton’s U18s and U23s, the now 20-year-old was sent to KV Kortrijk on loan late in August of last year in order to get some minutes under his belt.
Despite starting a chunk of games early on, the youngster eventually lost his spot in the first XI, only coming off the bench three times over the last 11 games of the Jupiler Pro League season.
Still, that seemingly hasn’t stopped him from catching the eye of a club in Europe, as L’Equipe in France are reporting Stade de Reims in Ligue 1 are ‘very close’ to signing the young Scotland U21 international.
They explain the deal taking Hornby to the French side will cost around €2m, and the forward is expected to sign a four-year deal.
Reims surprised everyone this season by finishing sixth in the table, and could end up playing in the Europa League next season as long as Paris Saint-Germain win both the finals of the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue.
