Sabah report Besiktas president Fikret Orman will fly to England after the transfer window closes to discuss Arsenal’s sell-on clause in Oguzhan Ozyakup’s contract.
It’s been claimed the Turkey international has already agreed a new deal with Besiktas but because of the 30% sell-on clause owned by Arsenal the Turkish club have yet to confirm his extension. The player has one year left on his current deal.
It was reported in Turkey last month that Besiktas want to remove this clause and are willing to offer €1m to Arsenal. After this was rejected, Sabah says Orman will hold talks with Arsenal next month.
This may give an indication Besiktas are looking to sell Ozyakup at some point in the not too distant future. Extending his contract would mean they could get a decent transfer fee, but first they need to get an agreement with Arsenal.
Ozyakup has been a key player for Besiktas since arriving from Arsenal. He’s been instrumental in back to back championships, but is keen to continue his career in a major European league.
It’s not unreasonable to believe Besiktas could get €10m for Ozyakup, which is probably why Arsenal turned down €1m for their 30%.
