Arsenal fans, we are sorry to have to tell you that your club is no closer to selling Granit Xhaka than they were before the Euros.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who make it clear that Tiago Pinto, the man in charge of transfer as AS Roma, ‘continues to say no to the €20m’ requested by the Gunners.
Finally securing the services of Rui Patricio, the Italian club will have been hoping for the Switzerland international to follow soon after, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
The newspaper explain Pinto is stuck in a ‘real arm wrestle’ with the London club, and is ‘firm’ with his €15m offer, ‘waiting that Xhaka reiterates to the Gunners his desire to transfer’ to Rome.
There is currently a €5m gap between the two sides, according to Corriere, and it doesn’t appear as if it’s going to grow smaller anytime soon.
The Italian side just want to get him for a price they deem reasonable, and want Xhaka himself to help them achieve that, especially since he’s already given his green light to AS Roma, José Mourinho and everyone else.
