Kalmar sporting director Thomas Andersson Borstam has told the club’s official website they would welcome back Leeds United forward Marcus Antonsson.
Antonsson joined Leeds United from the Swedish club in June 2016 and left for Blackburn Rovers on loan the following summer transfer window.
Asked about the chance of the forward rejoining the club, Borstam said: “Marcus knows that he is always welcome back at Kalmar. He greeted us on Sunday when we played Hammarby and we have a good contact.
“On the other hand, we know that he is a Leeds player and that is what we are talking about right now. But of course Marcus is always of interest to Kalmar FF.”
Earlier this week the player’s agent confirmed to the Swedish media there was interest in his client, but Leeds United needed to make a decision on the player’s future at Elland Road.
Antonsson struggled to get games in his debut season in England, leading to the Blackburn loan, which didn’t turn out badly.
With Leeds United expected to sign at least a couple of forwards this summer, with Jerry Mbakogu thought to be, there doesn’t appear a way back.
