Arsenal defender Hector Bellerín is a target for Atlético Madrid this summer as they look to reinforce at right-back.
That’s according to MARCA, who say the Spanish club are looking at the Arsenal man as both competition and a replacement for Kieran Trippier.
They explain that current option Sime Vrsaljko is not up to the standard expected, and so there is something of a hole in the right-back spot.
Trippier is the undisputed number one and has impressed, but a move away cannot be ruled out because he is currently living alone in Spain with his family in England.
He has just changed agents to Base Soccer Agency, ‘one of the most important’ in England and it ‘would not be unusual’ for him to take advantage of that and the fact he has suitors in England.
This is where Bellerín comes into play.
He is liked by Atlético chief Andrea Berta, who has had ‘several discussions’ with the Arsenal man.
He would consider a swap deal between Bellerín and Trippier, but in the event that couldn’t be realised, he would simply make a move for the Arsenal defender after selling Trippier to Manchester United.
It’s not the first time Berta has ‘set his eyes’ on Bellerín, who the club believe has enjoyed a ‘proven career’ and would ‘fit perfectly’ under Diego Simeone.
