Roma chief Tiago Pinto is set to meet Newcastle United this week to discuss a deal for forward Carles Perez.
That’s according to Corriere Della Sera, who say that the two clubs could agree on a loan deal for the 23-year-old.
Pinto is currently flying to London for negotiations with Chelsea over striker Tammy Abraham, who Roma are pushing to get ahead of Arsenal.
That will not be his only business in England, though, with negotiations also planned with Newcastle for Perez.
Corriere state that the Magpies have ‘redone’ for the Spaniard, and Roma are open to a sale this summer.
The Italian side need to sell for at least €10m if they are to avoid a loss on the forward, who arrived from Barcelona for £9.9m last September.
However, there is also the possibility of a loan deal, but only if that includes a ‘redemption obligation’ at the end of this season.
What the purchase clause would cost isn’t mentioned, but would presumably be around the €10m mark.
A loan is far more likely to appeal to Newcastle than a permanent move given the way Mike Ashley is with their finances, so expect more on that front in the coming days.
