Fanatik claim Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi is dreaming of appointing Rangers’ Steven Gerrard as the club’s new manager.
The Turkish side are struggling both on and off the field and they’ve lost seven of their last eight competitive matches.
Subsequently Besiktas’ current manager Abdullah Avci could leave the club in the near future and Fanatik claim Cebi’s alternative is Gerrard.
Gerrard has done excellently at Rangers since his appointment in 2018 and recently signed a deal which will keep him at Ibrox until June 2024. His side currently lie just two points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table and he’s also guided Rangers to the knockout stages of the Europa League.
However, despite Cebi’s intentions, Fanatik claim the club’s financial situation could prove a problem in bringing in Gerrard in. It’s also unlikely that the former Liverpool player would be interested in a move to Turkey given the commitments he has in Scotland, and how well he’s been doing at Rangers.
All of that said, the appreciation can only be positive.
