Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim has confirmed he rejected a €5m bid from Manchester City for Oguz Kaan Guctekin in the summer.
Scouts from the English club have been sent to monitor Oguz Kaan in recent months.
Sporx have reported on comments made by Yildirim after Fenerbahce’s win against at the weekend: “We had a €5m offer for Oguz Kaan from Manchester City in the summer. He’s a product of our academy. We didn’t sell.”
The 18-year old midfielder made his professional Fenerbache debut on Sunday when he came on as an 86th minute substitute. Along with Manchester City, Oguz Kaan has also been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
During the last window we covered the reports from Turkey that Manchester City were keen on the midfielder, and they were persistent in their pursuit of the player.
Manchester City are no stranger to the Turkish transfer market, after they have signed Enes Unal from Bursaspor for a reported €2m fee in 2014. The Premier League side have since sold the player for a big profit to Villarreal, but have a buyback option on the forward.
The Premier League side were also linked with Cengiz Under throughout the last window before the Turkey international decided to sign for AS Roma.
