New York Red Bulls could be the ‘perfect launch ramp’ for Timo Werner, with the striker unlikely to stay at Tottenham this summer.

That’s according to BILD, who say the forward can well imagine making a move to America to try and get his career back on track.

Werner is currently on loan at Tottenham but had found himself in the firing line this season, with Ange Postecoglou publically criticising him back in December.

It’s become clear that Tottenham do not want to exercise the €12m purchase option they have for the summer, and he’ll be returning to RB Leipzig. They don’t want him either, though, or he can’t be loaned out as his contract ends in 2026.

A move to their sister club New York Red Bulls ‘could serve as the perfect launching pad’ for the German, and he’d also meet former teammate Emil Forsberg at the club as well.

There were rumours about such a move in January but there was nothing to it and no movement from any of the parties. That was largely because Tottenham didn’t want anyone to depart either.

However, Werner ‘can certainly imagine’ a move to the MLS and the idea could get hot in the summer. Tottenham, of course, won’t be involved in matters at that point.
