Spanish outlet Superdeporte has a pretty big story on Thursday about the possible return of Vicente Iborra to his old club Levante.
Although the website doesn’t consider that the La Liga club will be making a move for the midfielder in the January window, they say the transfer has been worked in ‘slow fire’.
There are a few reasons why Levante can’t sign Iborra now. First because they already made contact in the summer, and heard that he’s not leaving for less than €13m.
There’s also the fact that Leicester City are still mourning the death of their owner, which means it’s not a good time to talk about transfers.
But one thing is clear for Superdeporte: Iborra wants to return to Levante, and has been wishing this since he left the club for Sevilla in 2013.
On Levante’s side, there could be a Brexit issue as well. Superdeporte takes claims from The Times to say the Premier League should soon only allow 12 foreigners in the team, and the Foxes currently have 13.
This is far from certain for now, but there seems to be no hurry from Levante. The website even mentions that with Iborra’s contract expiring in 2021, the La Liga club could wait for it to get closer to an end so they make a move.
That means Levante are really confident that Iborra wants to come back.
