With Manchester City midfielder today revealing that he’s leaving the club at the end of the season, the news arrived in Brazil as a big chance for clubs to bring him back to his country.
Now there’s one specific side who seem to already have the lead to sign the 36-year-old, and that’s Athletico Paranaense.
Goal writes that the Curitiba side ‘monitor the situation attentively’ and believe that in case the Manchester City man actually decides to move to Brazil, then they have the priority for his choice.
Fernandinho played for Athletico between 2002 and 2005, before moving to Europe, and with his family still in the city, that would be a reason for him to return to the club.
Athletico, however, are being cautious about the situation of the Manchester City player, especially because they know that several clubs will be interested in his signing, given how good his form still is.
Goal claims the Furacão will wait until the summer and confirm Fernandinho’s desire to return, at which point they’ll have the doors open for him.
