Following the end of the January transfer window, one of the most talked about topics in the Catalan is a player who did not leave Barcelona.
That’s Ousmane Dembele.
The local press now have several stories wondering if he’ll play for the club again, as he turned down several offers to leave them and has a contract expiring at the end of the season.
Now as Sport talks about the Frenchman’s situation, they point out that Barça believe there are two clubs who are planning to sign him for free in the summer: Manchester United and Juventus.
It’s said Dembele didn’t even want to listen to the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain and Tottenham, and the Catalan side think he’s planning something else.
Sport explains that even though Manchester United had tried to sign Dembele in the past couple of summer windows, they didn’t make an offer this time. It’s said the Red Devils’ passivity ‘surprised’ Barcelona, especially because it’s known the English side have a good relationship with his agent. That’s the same with Juventus, who’d been in touch with his representative and now stayed quiet.
Both clubs will have the chance to sign Dembele for free soon, and while Barcelona are only suspicious of potential deals with those clubs, Sport says ‘only the player and his closest entourage know first-hand what they have agreed to for June with the letter of freedom under his arm’.
Sport say Barcelona ‘believe’ Manchester United or Juventus will be player’s destination, and all the clues ‘point to’ them.
