Over the past day or so, Lucas Digne to Everton has been building.
It’s Catalan newspaper Sport likely pushing it the most, with them going online with it on Friday and having an article in their Saturday edition.
Sport claimed Everton are ready to present a ‘formal offer’ for the French fullback, and that it would be close to Barcelona’s €16m asking price. The newspaper added: ‘The English club plans a joint bid for Digne and Yerry Mina in a matter of days.’
Digne’s agent then appeared on English TV and calmed the situation slightly, but still maintained the vagueness required at this time of year.
Now Mundo Deportivo have picked it up. The more sensible of the Catalan sport newspapers, Mundo often contact Barca to try and firm interest up.
This time the La Liga champions made it clear they’re still awaiting a ‘concrete offer’ from anyone. Barca are ‘waiting’ and wouldn’t deny that they’ll sell Digne if an ‘interesting economic offer’ arrives for the player.
Juventus and Bayern Munich are linked alongside Everton.
