Sevilla are ‘awaiting Chelsea’s documentation’ to finalise the deal taking Jules Koundé to Stamford Bridge.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say that the Spanish side have struck a €55-60m deal with the Blues for the Frenchman.
They warned last night that the defender was close to joining Chelsea, and the non-existence of talks with Barcelona means he was ‘one step away’ from a move to Stamford Bridge.
That remains the case, and they assume that Koundé will no longer play at the Sánchez Pizjuán and have negotiated his departure for the best offer on the table, which is from Chelsea.
At this point, the negotiations between the two clubs have ‘accelerated’, and the Spanish side are now only waiting for Chelsea to send their documentation outlining the economic agreement they’ve struck.
Despite reports in England stating those have been sent, Sevilla were not aware of that being the case as of today.
Mundo continue to reject claims that there will be a late bid from Barcelona, who are yet to be in contact with Sevilla.
Koundé, for his part, had ‘agreements in place’ with them and Chelsea and was inclined to move to Barcelona after they signed Robert Lewandowski.
However, it is Chelsea who were ‘really taking steps’, and the wait for Barcelona to do something was proving to be too long.
They’re still yet to move, pushing him to Chelsea as a result.
