Atlético Madrid have contacted agent Jorge Mendes and asked him to take midfielder Thomas Lemar to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Lemar is out of favour at the Spanish club, who are keen to sell him in this window in order to fund a move for a new striker.
A move to the Premier League has been heavily mooted as a result, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Wolves all linked.
Wolves interest has been the most heavily pushed in recent days, with both Mundo Deportivo and AS touting them as a possible destination.
Mundo believed that Jorge Mendes, who has a lot of influence at Wolves, could be vital in taking him to Molineux.
La Razón push that further today and state that Atlético have been in contact with the agent to ask him to take Lemar to Wolves.
According to them, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are yet to make a move for the player and so Atlético have tried to move things along themselves.
They state that Mendes ‘could do Atlético Madrid a favour’ by convincing Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to sign the 24-year-old by using the ‘control’ he has over the club.
Atlético were originally looking for €70m, which is what they paid to sign Lemar two years ago, but will now accept a loan deal so long as Wolves ‘commit’ to paying that €70m price tag at the end of it.
The ‘commit’ part is very unlikely, with surely any clause in a Lemar loan, to anywhere, either being for a lower amount or optional.
