Lloyd Kelly joined Juventus from Newcastle United in the winter transfer window.
The move took a while to complete and went through on deadline day. The indication was that Juventus have a near-obligation to buy the Englishman permanently from Newcastle United.
The Bianconeri have now released a statement about the deal, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb. It states the Old Lady’s obligation to buy Kelly permanently will be triggered once Juve qualify for the European competitions.
It will be triggered even if they qualify for the UEFA Conference League. The statement reveals that the amount to buy Kelly permanently will be €14.5m and there could also be an additional cost of €2.7m. The amount could increase later on, depending on the ‘sporting objectives’ Kelly achieves during his time in Turin.
As part of the initial loan deal, Newcastle United are earning a fee of €3m.
Juve were knocked out of the Champions League at the hands of PSV Eindhoven yesterday but they find themselves fourth in the Serie A table. As of now, they are only five points away from failing to finish inside a European spot.
