Once a footballer has played in Italy and then leaves for another league it’s usual for him to be continually linked with a return.
That’s the case with Pedro Obiang, who played for Sampdoria for five years before moving to West Ham in 2015. The midfielder has been repeatedly linked with moves to Serie A clubs and it comes up every single transfer window.
The club most involved at the moment is Atalanta and there’s small stories all over the Italian media about it.
Gazzetta dello Sport say Atalanta are ‘always on the track’ of the player and he’s an option for their midfield going forward.
Bergamo Post, local to the Italian club, say the ‘final assault’ to sign Obiang will begin from today.
They also state the player has now proven his fitness, and West Ham won’t put obstacles in the way of a transfer because they’re well stocked in his position.
Obiang only extended his contract in July 2017 and it lasts until 2022 so the Hammers are going to want a reasonable fee, and that could be where the obstacles do appear.
