With less than two weeks left in the transfer window, clubs are starting to enter panic mode as they scramble around trying to get deals done before everything shuts.
Napoli are one of those, as the Serie A side remain interested in Sheffield United star Sander Berge, who has already started the new season with the Blades.
Following the club’s relegation to the Championship, there was an expectation that the Norway international would be sold, but here we are, potentially 13 days from him remaining at Bramall Lane.
However, that won’t happen if Napoli have anything to say about it, as Gazzetta dello Sport explain the Italians are ‘always in contact with Sheffield United for Sander Berge’, as he is ‘the midfielder who responds to the attributes Spalletti needs’.
As things stand, the Championship side ‘don’t want him to go on loan’ since their relegation has allegedly ‘created financial problems that those in charge would like to solve with the definitive sale’ of the player.
Furthermore, Cristiano Giuntoli, Napoli’s director of football, ‘also counts on Berge’s willingness to transfer’ to the Italian side.
Basically, ‘the impression is that he will wait for the last days of the transfer market to attempt the definitive lunge’.
The clock is ticking…
