Earlier on Tuesday we covered a report from Spanish newspaper Sport which said Mauricio Pochettino has already decided to use Tottenham’s €7m clause to buy Pau Lopez.

Pau is currently on loan for the season at Tottenham, and the idea is that Michel Vorm will leave Spurs in the summer, and the young Spaniard become the club’s second choice goalkeeper behind Hugo Lloris.

Espanyol specialists La Grada say the Barcelona club have already allocated the Pau money to buy Diego Lopez from AC Milan. Lopez has impressed whilst on loan from Milan, and Espanyol hope they can get him permanently for a good price.

Without the sale of Pau to Tottenham, Espanyol wouldn’t be considering signing Lopez on a permanent deal because of the costs involved in such a deal, so Spurs making a decision to sign the youngster is beneficial.

Espanyol only agreed to let Pau join Tottenham on loan when they finally agreed a deal to get Lopez this season, and the two goalkeepers still see their future prospects entwined.
