Two Catalan sources in two days have named Youri Tielemans as a potential signing for Barcelona in the next summer window.
The Belgium international’s Leicester City contract expires at the end of June next year, and there’s not a great hope for a renewal right now. Now 25-years-of-age, the midfielder may well be thinking it’s time to take the next step of his career, although a move to Barcelona seems quite the jump.
On Monday, Catalan newspaper Sport reported Tielemans is in the ‘orbit’ of the Blaugrana, along with multiple other players who have contracts expiring in 2023. It’s part of the club’s plan to make most of their recruitment as cheap as possible as they continue to struggle to meet La Liga’s FFP rules.
Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo reports Barcelona have ‘already sounded out’ Tielemans about a move. They thought about a swoop in the last window window, but were held back by their finances and the money invested elsewhere.
As it stands, the Leicester City player is just one of a growing number of options for Xavi Hernandez’s side.
