With the Napoli media always loving a good transfer rumour, there’s now the coverage of Manchester United’s reported interest in Kim Min-jae.
Outlet Napoli Piu writes about this situation today, claiming that despite having the player protected by a release clause, the price of it is making their fans ‘worry’ about his early exit.
The situation is also approached by market expert Paolo Bargiggia in a chat with 1 Station Radio.
There, it was claimed that Napoli are already getting prepared in case Manchester United or some other club come for the defender.
“In the Korean’s contract there is a €45m clause, active in 2023. Napoli would not be caught unprepared and are already monitoring some possible replacements for Kim.
“Beyond the clause, optimism filters in the Azzurri about staying in Italy for at least another year. He’s a player with a lot of appeal, even if there was no real interest from the British. If a club were to pay the clause next year, it would equally be a great capital gain for the Italian club.”
The detail in Kim’s release clause, thought to actually be €50m, is that it can only be triggered in the summer, so in case Manchester United engage in a January hunt for the defender, then they’d need to negotiate a fee with Napoli, who are well known for being tough sellers.
It’s said the Serie A side are expected to soon discuss a new contract with the defender, with club president De Laurentiis trying to remove the release clause.
It’s pointed out the club normally try to keep players for at least three years, but that shall ‘spend on Kim’s will’.
