AS Roma interest in Diogo Dalot has been covered heavily in the Italian media over the past few days.
The Portugal international had a reasonable spell on loan with AC Milan last season, when his versatility, that he can play either on the right or left, made him a useful part of the Rossoneri squad.
Milan weren’t against keeping Dalot beyond the end of their loan term, but Manchester United weren’t prepared to give them an advantageous deal and instead took the fullback back to Old Trafford.
Saturday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport reports Roma ‘accelerate’ for Dalot’s signing, and it’s a move being backed by the Serie A club’s manager, a certain Jose Mourinho. Tiago Pinto, the sporting director, is also keen, and for CdS that makes it a nice little Portuguese triangle.
The club are ‘preparing an offer’ which would see them pay a €1.5m loan fee, and have a purchase clause of €15m, which would be mandatory should Dalot make a certain number of appearances.
What Manchester United will make of that remains to be seen.
