Despite having featured for France at youth level, Arthur Masuaku knows the left-back position is pretty stacked these days under Didier Deschamps, so in order to get some caps on his résumé, he’s decided to declare for DR Congo.
Explaining in January that he wanted to help the Leopards reach the World Cup, seeing it as the chance to ‘write history’, the 24-year-old sees the 2022 competition in Qatar as his ultimate goal.
Well, according to Léopard Leader Foot in DR Congo, FIFA have given the West Ham defender the green light to represent the African country in the near future.
However, the general secretary of the Fecofa, their FA, has told foot.cd: ’As of yesterday, we aren’t in possession of any document’.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but while the DR Congo FA are yet to confirm it officially, it appears everything is well underway for the Hammers’ man to finally represent someone at the highest level on the international platform.
