According to claims in the Italian media, Tottenham Hotspur could join the race to sign Torino defender Antonio Barreca. The 22 year old is also generating interest at AS Monaco and AS Roma, according to the same claims.
TMW explain Tottenham are showing an interest in Barreca, and could make an offer for the Italy U21 international. The left back only made his debut for the Italian club last season, after loan spells with Cagliari and Cittadella.
Barreca came through the Torino youth system, and played eleven games for the first team last season. He’s contracted to the Turin club until June 2021, after renewing his contract in November, and therefore Torino aren’t under pressure to sell him in this window.
TMW believe Tottenham and Monaco could make an early offer to Torino to see off the competition, but a transfer to Roma still seems a much likelier option. Tottenham aren’t in need of a player of Barreca’s profile, and the Premier League club may be being used to pressure Roma.
