According to Aksam, Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi has reportedly told his agent he would like to work under Jose Mourinho following reports of a Tottenham Hotspur offer.
Muriqi has been linked with a move to the Premier League side in recent months and there have been reports they’ve had a bid rejected by the Istanbul club.
As paraphrased by the Turkish newspaper , Muriqi has told his agent his main focus at the moment is winning the league with Fener but he welcomes the interest from Tottenham: ‘My current goal is to become a champion with Fenerbahce. It is a great feeling that big teams from Europe take care of me and want me.
‘These offers make me happy. Especially Tottenham’s. I would love to work with Mourinho, but first I dream of becoming a champion with Fenerbahce. Delay any bids until the end of the season.’
Paraphrasing is very popular in the Turkish media, however, it’s often reported incorrectly when it gets to England. It’s not a direct quote, just the gist of what they’ve been led to believe was said.
Despite his admiration for Mourinho and Tottenham’s interest it seems Muriqi will remain with Fenerbahce at least until the summer.
The Super Lig side need their main forward in order to maintain their league title challenge but a transfer in the next window is a possibility.
Fenerbahce value Muriqi in the region of €25m and the Turkish club could be happy to sell him for that price, especially considering they paid €3.5m for him last summer.
