Claims Slimani’s Newcastle United medical has hit a problem, and Mitrovic move held up

Algeria’s DZ Foot are reporting Islam Slimani has failed a medical to join Newcastle United.

The Leicester City player had been expected for much of the day to be named Rafael Benitez’s latest signing but there’s been doubt thrown on the deal at the last minute.

The same is being reported by DH in Belgium.

The interest for Belgian football is that Slimani’s move failing would also lead to the cancellation of Mitrovic’s move to Anderlecht on loan for the rest of the season.

Slimani recently picked up an injury, but it wasn’t thought to be something that could kill his transfer to Newcastle United, obviously these claims suggest otherwise.

Crazy claims can be made on deadline day and there’s every chance this is a mix up in communication, and both DZ in Algeria and DH in Belgium are wrong, but it’s obviously a worrying situation for Newcastle United fans.
