Last week, we’ve seen claims from the Portuguese media claiming Manchester United had placed a bid for the signing of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.
It was said the Red Devils put on the table €75m, plus €20m in bonuses and the loan of a player whose market value is of €10m.
The report, which was made by newspaper Correio da Manhã, said the suggestion from Old Trafford had been that the footballer involved in the deal would be Andreas Pereira, who’s set to return to England this summer following a loan spell in Brazil.
However, as reported by A Bola at the weekend, those claims are not right.
The outlet simply writes that according to their sources, the news ‘do not correspond to the truth’, as the player would not enter any potential deal from Manchester United for Darwin.
A Bola points out that the Red Devils don’t want to pay the €100m to land the striker, and that’s why other players are getting involved in the rumours, as past claims had mentioned Anthony Martial’s name as well.
So as Manchester United continue being named as one of the main contenders to land the Uruguayan, it seems there’s still a long way to go until they get to a potential deal with Benfica.
