On May 1st, we covered claims from AS that RB Leipzig star Timo Werner ‘really wants’ to sign for Liverpool and the striker views other suitors as alternatives.
Over the past day or two, there have been rumours stating the Reds have advanced their efforts in landing the Germany international.
It was also suggested the Merseyside club have offered the attacker a five-year deal worth €50m (€10m per season).
These claims reached Germany and Kicker now says the report of Jürgen Klopp’s side making an offer to the 24-year-old is ‘incorrect’.
Werner’s contract with the Bundesliga club is until 2023 and his current deal has a release clause of €50-60m.
SportBild also has a short update on Liverpool’s interest in the attacker.
It’s stated Klopp prefers to meet players personally before he signs them. This is to know them better and also share his ideas with the player.
According to the report, Klopp should plan such a meeting with Werner, but it’s been delayed due to the Coronavirus crisis.
