The Italian sport media are ever so excited with the idea that Ilkay Gundogan could move to Inter Milan this summer.
The Manchester City player has one season left on his contract after this one, and isn’t rushing into signing a renewal.
Pep Guardiola said last week that, as of now, Gundogan doesn’t want to extend. Those words have been taken in Italy as meaning that there’ll be no renewal, at any point, and therefore City will look to cash in.
There’s been claims of a potential fee between €25m and €30m, and today TMW reiterate that, but their reasoning simply doesn’t add up.
The Italian website states: ‘The idea of the Manchester club is to get a fair amount, not exaggerated, after purchasing him on a free transfer basis.’
But, they didn’t.
Gundogan cost Manchester City around £20m when he moved from Borussia Dortmund.
There are so many claims being made in Italy right now that the story is getting carried away with itself.
