Despite claims in Italy that Roma would not be coming back for a third attempt to sign Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez, France Football are claiming otherwise on Friday afternoon.
According to the French website, the Serie A side have now come forward with a €35m offer for the Algerian international, which would, if accepted, make him a record transfer for the Serie A side.
However, if the Premier League club stays true to its word, then the offer is still expected to fall short of their reported €40-45m valuation of the winger.
It’s difficult to keep up with who’s on top of things in the Mahrez saga, as Roma’s director of football Monchi has been keeping his cards close to his chest, refusing to go into too much detail regarding their interest in the Leicester star.
The latest from Italy has been much of the same, with the Spanish director admitting an interest, yet strong suggestions the Serie A runners up would be looking to move onto other targets, such as Borussia Dortmund’s Emre Mor.
We’ll have to see if the Italians corroborate these claims in the near future, and if they do, with two countries making the claims, we’ll have a clearer picture of what’s really going on.
