It’s now time for the Brazilian press to bring a take on the future of Paris Saint Germain defender Thiago Silva.
Following reports saying the 35-year-old isn’t signing a contract extension at the French side, several clubs have been linked with a move.
Everton are one of the sides who’ve been named by the European press, and the Toffees are being commented in Brazil as a possible destination as well.
Journalist Jorge Nicolas has a video on his Youtube channel in which he says the two main contenders to sign Thiago Silva are clubs whose managers have worked with him in the past.
One of them is Napoli, whose manager Gennaro Gattuso was Thiago Silva’s teammate in his year at Milan. The other is Everton, since Carlo Ancelotti managed the defender both in Italy and France.
There are many Brazilian clubs who became attentive to the situation since the news of his departure from PSG came out. But Jorge Nicola says there are two reasons why Silva won’t return to his home country now.
Firstly, he’d like to spend a couple more years in Europe. There’s also the fact that he had a salary of €1.5m per month in Paris, and even with a little reduction, Brazilian sides can’t even think of affording that for now.
