On Tuesday, a big claim from Italy stated that West Ham United, who currently are struggling under David Moyes, had made an offer to José Mourinho to take over.
It was reported that the Portuguese manager had been flattered by what the Hammers had put on the table, but his main priority is to finish the season with AS Roma.
It would certainly make no sense for Mourinho to leave a club competing in Europe and for a European spot in the league for one fighting against relegation in the toughest league in the world, and that’s why he hasn’t moved.
Perhaps once the season has ended and West Ham stay up, things could be different, but until then, the London side are better off trying to finish the campaign under the manager who had done a great job until this season.
Still, the fact that West Ham have come forward for Mourinho is still making waves in Italy, with Centro Suono Sport’s Francesca Ferrazza saying, relayed by Giallorossi.net: “If Mourinho didn’t want to stay, he wouldn’t worry about Smalling’s renewal, Abraham’s future, the transfer market budget he’ll have available next summer.
“It’s true he still hasn’t received offers from important teams that have made him waver: West Ham, Newcastle, the Portuguese national team have arrived… All jobs that don’t attract him more than Roma. The offer from West Ham has certainly reached him, and who knows if he will not want to talk about it in the press conference today…”
