Barcelona were successful in beating AS Roma in signing Malcom from Bordeaux earlier this week.
The Italian capital club had agreed a deal in principle with the Ligue 1 outfit for the Brazilian and the deal was confirmed by Roma on Monday. However, the La Liga winners managed to overcome the competition from the Serie A outfit and completed the deal for the 21-year-old.
Ernesto Valverde and his men are in the United States for the pre-season tour and the South American winger has already joined his new teammates. They will face Tottenham Hotspur in the next pre-season fixture later this weekend.
Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims that Malcom would have faced Barcelona on Sunday, rather than playing for them. The north London club were interested in the player and it’s claimed they even submitted a bid of €35m plus €5m in variables in January.
Unfortunately for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, Bordeaux turned down the Premier League’s club proposal, which allowed Malcom to join Barcelona this summer. The French club allowed the player to move to the Spanish champions for €41m plus €1m in variables.
