According to reports in Turkey, Martin Skrtel’s days with Fenerbahce look to be over and Fotomac claim the Slovakian defender is close to joining Rangers.
Yesterday we covered reports that Skrtel is in talks with Rangers and a move to Ibrox looks to be a possibility this summer. The player is currently a free agent after his contract with Fener expired at the end of June.
According to Turkish newspaper, Skrtel has ‘confirmed’, presumably to his inner circle, that he’s in transfer talks with Rangers with regards to a potential move.
The Scottish Premiership side have been linked with a move for the former Liverpool player since the arrival of Steven Gerrard last summer. The Rangers boss will be looking to strengthen his squad before the transfer deadline and he recently brought in Filip Helander from Serie A side Bologna.
Skrtel has been linked with a return to Fenerbahce in recent weeks but Fotomac say the club’s sporting director Damien Comolli has rejected his salary demands.
The 34 year old played 79 Super Lig games for the Istanbul club in three seasons, scoring 6 goals.
