With the January transfer window fast approaching, El Desmarque in Spain have been going out of their way to get the rumour mill spinning as fast as possible.
Over the last couple of weeks, they’ve had many big transfer stories, mostly involving Real Madrid spending hundreds of millions and swapping players.
Their deals have involved pretty much all of the Premier League top six and Tottenham have not avoided their attention, mostly because of Christian Eriksen.
The latest, though, does not involve the Danish midfielder but replaces him with Harry Kane instead. Yes, Real Madrid are after Harry Kane, it’s 2018 all over again.
El Desmarque say that Real Madrid and Tottenham have been talking about a deal for the England captain and those discussions are ‘advanced’. Spurs have even put a price tag on Kane’s head.
According to the website, they want €120m plus Karim Benzema if a deal is ever to happen. Benzema is rated at €80m and Kane €200m.
However, the proposal is too high for Madrid. Florentino Pérez rates Benzema at €80m but only believes Kane’s value is €140m based on the current transfer market.
Even if they were to agree on a price, Benzema’s wage demands might scupper a move. He wants to be the highest-paid player at the Bernabeu, but that hasn’t happened, and Tottenham would have no intention of matching those wage demands.
These could be the ‘main problem’ stopping an agreement, but Pérez will continue to talk with Tottenham until the summer regardless to try and get another Premier League star.
Although, between discussions for N’Golo Kanté, Christian Eriksen, Paul Pogba and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, it’s hard to see where he’ll find the time.
