Fanatik claim Galatasaray defender Christian Luyindama was on his way to sign for Aston Villa before picking up a serious knee injury in November whilst playing for DR Congo.
Aston Villa were linked with the central defender last October in the Turkish media, and the rumours went from there.
The 26 year old was in excellent form for Galatasaray last season and continued to impress in this campaign before he was sidelined.
According to the Turkish newspaper, his performances impressed Villa scouts and it’s reported the Premier League side were preparing to make an offer of between €12m and €14m to sign the player in January.
However, after his injury, the interest from Aston Villa reportedly cooled and Galatasaray didn’t register him for the rest of season after it emerged he would be ruled out for the foreseeable future.
Gala paid €8m to sign the DR Congo international from Standard Liege during the last summer transfer window, after having the player on loan, and he’s under contract with the Super Lig club until June 2022.
