Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is a priority target for Manchester United, but the Red Devils are facing difficulties to sign the winger because of the €120m asking price set by the German club.
United viewed Ferran Torres, who left Valencia for Manchester City last month, as one of the alternatives to Sancho, according to AS.
It’s claimed those in charge at Old Trafford were aware from the beginning that it would be a complicated operation to sign the England international. Therefore, they had earlier looked at Torres.
As per the report, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side started talks to try and sign the Spaniard, who has a similar profile to that of Sancho. He was much more affordable than the Dortmund attacker because Torres then had a year left on his contract at Valencia.
Manchester United, however, faced competition from the Citizens to sign Torres, and the Etihad club’s sporting project convinced the former La Liga wideman to join Pep Guardiola’s side.
The ‘rejection’ of the new City player, coupled with difficulties faced to sign Sancho, has now seen United look at other alternatives in the transfer market.
AS are of the belief Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale would be the right fit for Solskjaer’s side.
