It was only a matter of time, but it appears that Newcastle United have made their first huge move of the new Public Investment Fund era.
The Magpies were recently bought out by the Saudi Arabians, which led to a lot of rumours about potentially huge sums being offered in January, and now Filippo Grassia, a journalist for Rai, claims the trigger has been pulled.
While many thought it might be for Luis Diaz, it’s actually Dusan Vlahovic who is now the main target, as Calciomercato.it relay what the reporter told PassioneInter.com.
That means a three figure plus six zeros after it, and the website then explain that ‘therefore a proposal for €100m or so’, which they reckon ‘would represent a considerable temptation for Rocco Commisso’s club.
Now, before you get all excited, they do also add that ‘the player’s will remans to be seen’, especially since Newcastle aren’t exactly in the most attractive of positions sporting wise these days, 19th in the Premier League with just one win to their name.
That’s why it’s ‘certainly not an attractive situation for a player who has all the big names on his trail and could aspire to compete for much more ambitious goals’.
We would take this with a pinch of salt for now, but it’s a very, very big claim from Grassia.
