Catalan newspaper Sport reported on Tuesday that Barcelona will have to wait for one more year before signing Manchester United star Paul Pogba after the Red Devils decided not to let their midfielder leave.
It was also claimed the World Cup winner has accepted to ‘live a difficult year’ at Old Trafford.
Today’s edition of the same publication claims Ernesto Valverde’s side have given up on signing the midfielder because of the English club’s desire to keep the player and also the finances involved to complete the deal.
Sport suggest the La Liga winners were interested in Pogba’s situation because he did not share a good relationship with Jose Mourinho.
This has been widely reported, but they go on to stress the 20-time English champions could pick the Frenchman over the former Chelsea manager, if there is a war.
It’s mainly because the 25-year-old is ‘more important’ to United than the Portuguese tactician and the latter could be the victim, if they have to choose between their player and the manager.
We can only wonder as to where Sport got this information from…
