Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman identified Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum as a target during the last window.
The midfielder’s contract at Anfield runs down at the end of this season and there were repeat claims about the La Liga side wanting to sign him in the summer. However, that didn’t happen and he continues to shine for the Reds.
Reports have suggested the 30-year-old has decided against signing an extension and unless he renews quickly with the Merseyside club, rumours around his future will continue.
The Netherlands international scored in his side’s 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday and after the tie, he refused to discuss his contract situation.
In around three weeks time, the Dutchman will be eligible to sign a pre-contract with a club outside England. 
Therefore, Jürgen Klopp’s side need to rush if they wish to retain the player beyond this campaign.
