Donyell Malen’s fine form for PSV Eindhoven last season and impressive displays for the Netherlands at the Euros has caught the attention of Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.

On July 9th, journalist Rik Elfrink reported the Reds are a ‘candidate’ to sign the 22-year-old this summer.

Elfrink covered the situation for Eindhovens Dagblad on Tuesday, explaining that Jürgen Klopp’s side are ‘still on the fence’ and can sign the forward if they submit a ‘high bid’.

He also reported the Bundesliga side are ahead of the English club and an ‘official offer’ from BVB is ‘expected soon’.

The Dutch journalist has now took to Twitter to report that Marco Rose’s side are ‘currently the club that is very serious’ to acquire Malen’s services.

Elfrink mentions Liverpool and suggests the Merseyside club are not so serious over signing the PSV star. The journalist further adds Borussia Dortmund and PSV are yet to find an agreement, but all parties ‘hope to find’ one in the next few days.

That should put an end to Liverpool’s hope of signing Malen this summer.
